These are ‘Co-operative’ style childbirth classes which originated with The International
Childbirth Education Association (ICEA) whose motto is “freedom of Choice based on knowledge of
alternatives”.
I encourage you and your family to be central to the experience and be pro-active in planning and
preparing for your birth. Reading all the handouts and practicing the exercises between and after
will increase the benefit of these classes.
Please wear cool comfortable layers of clothing (we may be on the floor or practicing squatting
etc), bring a pillow, snacks, drinks and notebook and pencil each with you. Filtered water is available
at 220 E 26 St location.
